Blue Hour Site is run by Miklós Andrássy — Andrassy Photo. It started as a small tool so I would stop missing the minutes when the sky in Budapest goes deep blue. The public site at bluehoursite.com has done that job since 2008: a calculator, a few articles from actually taking the pictures, and a place to send people who asked “when should I stand on the bridge?”
Same job as the site that has been up since 2008, without the old social widgets. Type a city and it uses the built-in list, or a map search if the name is obscure, then gives sunrise, sunset, and blue hour from the Sun’s height. Blue hour here means the Sun between 4° and 8° below the horizon, in that city’s own time.
I still point people to the Facebook page and the Flickr group if they want to look at other people’s frames. My own photographs live at andrassyphoto.com.
If you are here to shoot: pick a date, type a city, be there for the start of the window. The rest is a tripod and not walking away two minutes too soon.
